How to Properly Exercise

Exercise is any physical activity that increases the heart’s ability to pump blood and improves the health of your cardiovascular system. It can be used to maintain a healthy weight, prevent illness and add years to your life.

If you are new to exercising, start out with activities you enjoy. Choose activities that work the entire body, including your core. Some examples are walking, jogging, swimming, and resistance training.

Before you begin an exercise program, check with your doctor. If you have a health problem, you may need to start out slow and work your way up.

Be sure to warm up and cool down before and after your workout. This helps to keep your muscles loose and avoid injury. You should also drink plenty of water while exercising.

You should exercise at least five times a week for at least thirty minutes each time. During your exercise, you should also use safety equipment, such as a treadmill or bike, and wear clothing that is appropriate for your activity.

The intensity of your exercise is also important. Typically, the higher the intensity, the better. However, too much exercise can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. In general, moderate aerobic exercise is ideal.

Vigorous intensity exercises require harder work and increase your heart rate. Examples include running and heavy yardwork

A proper warm-up includes light calisthenics and stretching. Warm-ups help to prepare your body for exercise and increase the flow of blood. Afterward, you should cool down with a stretch to relax your muscles and reduce soreness.
